I just discovered this information and don't know if the Cathedral staff knows about this planned "Rainbow Sash" demonstration planned for October 7, at the noon Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul. I left the information with the answering service but don't know if they will be able to reach anybody.
In the past, these events have taken place on Pentecost Sunday. This may be the first time that a "Solitary Sunday" event like this has taken place here. If anybody reading this can contact an usher or one of the staff of the Cathedral, they will know what to do.
Solidarity Sunday
When: 12:00 noon, Sunday, October 7, 2007.
Where: Cathedral of St. Paul.
Solidarity Sunday, a faith-based anti violence initiative of DignityUSA, the nation’s largest Catholic lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organization, is held every year on the Sunday before October 11 (National Coming Out Day) and is dedicated to the memory of the many who have lost their lives through violence because of who they were or who they were perceived to be. Solidarity Sunday began in 1995 when the Board of Directors of DignityUSA recognized that 70-80% of American Catholics supported equal rights for gays and lesbians. It was decided to invite these people to join in solidarity with LGBT Catholics and to work with them to end verbal and physical abuse.
Locally, Solidarity Sunday events are organized by Dignity Twin Cities. This year, Dignity/Twin Cities is encouraging Catholics to attend the noon Mass on Sunday, October 7, with a small rainbow ribbon attached to their clothing. These ribbons will be provided by Dignity members at the Selby Ave. side door of the cathedral half-an-hour prior to the Mass.

They could not have picked a better day. Tomorrow is the TC Marathon.

Wow! I never thought of that. Thanks for alerting me. I won't bother to go over. There will be lots of spectators up by the Cathedral as the stragglers come running/gasping/lurching by.
So, I guess those dissidents aren't runners! [GR]
Alas, no. ;-)
