In the Catholic Church females wishing to live within the structure of prayer, living without luxury and obedience to a spiritual way of life are often called to serve their God a Sister belonging to a specific order.
Two such women who grew up in Murray County, one coming from Currie and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the other from Iona and St. Columba celebrate this month 50 years of giving their lives to God and their Church. Sister Kenric Ruppert and Sister Alice Thraen are special women and they willingly answered questions concerning their call to the Religious Life.
The questions asked of each were the same and dealt with, among other queries, the age they decided they were meant to serve their God as a Sister, why they chose the Order they did and how they grew up. They were also asked to look back over the last 50 years and give voice to the changes they have seen, what it was like to profess their final vows and the areas they have served in the past 50 years.
