Father Michael O'Connell, Basilica of St. Mary rector, on Catholicism's future

.
Father Michael O'Connell has done yeoman's work, lo these past 20 years or so at the Basilica of St. Mary. Having reached the age of reason (I did it a bit ago), he is retiring and abandoning the Basilica parish and retaining his Ascension parish in north Minneapolis, just to keep his hand in, and stay on the mailing list.

Minnesota Public Radio, not on the USCCB's mailing list, interviewed him today about the state of the Catholic Church in the U.S. in the year 2008:

You'll need Real Radio or equivalent to listen to this.

Well I guess we see how limp his spine is at around 37 minutes in the interview. That is most unfortunate Father! Dont you realize you will suffer the greater judgement as due to your position in the Church? Stay strong in the Lord and teach and hold the TRUTH that the Holy Catholic Church teaches. Making no comment when it comes to your stance as to the teaching of the Church on homosexuality and "homosexual marriage".

Father O'Connell has walked a narrow path on the edge of a cliff during his time at the Basilica.

I always got a vague "bad feeling" at the Basilica when I was there for mass. This sheds light on why..
