Quo Vadis Days in Winona: "Where Are You Going?"

.
.
Young men from throughout the Diocese of Winona participated last month in Quo Vadis Days, a summer camp that mixed education about vocations and priesthood with lots of camaraderie and fun which included a spirited game of kickball on the lawn of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary. Later, the boys were part of an hour of Eucharistic Adoration combined with a talk on the Sacrament of Penance, and then had the opportunity to receive the sacrament from the 10 priests participating this year. The day ended with a bonfire and night prayer.

Diocesan seminarians and priests conduct the three-day camps each year, first for boys in 6-8 grades, and then for young men in high school. The high school group attended the Mass of Priestly Ordination June 28. Father William Thompson, ordained to the priesthood during that Mass, is the first diocesan priest to have participated in Quo Vadis Days. The camp is in its 15th year, and more than 350 boys have participated to date. For more information on Quo Vadis Days 2009, contact the diocesan Director of Vocations, Father Thomas Melvin, at (507) 454-4643, or via email at tmelvin@dow.org.
