The Ordination of Bishop Lee Piché, the new Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, will take place in the Cathedral of St. Paul on Monday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m.
If you have a hankering to see lots of purple, the following bishops, in addition to Archbishop Nienstedt, will be in attendance: Bishops Michael Hoeppner of Crookston, Bishop Richard Pates of Des Moines, Bishop John LeVoir of New Ulm, Paul Swain of Sioux Falls, Peter Christensen of Superior, John Quinn of Winona,
In addition, Archbishop Emeritus Harry Flynn and the following Bishop Emeriti will be in attendance: Victor Balke of Crookston, Raphael Fliss of Superior, and Bernard Harrington of Winona.
Monsignor James Bissonette, Administrator of the Diocese of Duluth where they are waiting for the appointment of a new Bishop after Bishop Dennis Schnurr was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Cincinnati, will also attend the ceremony.
Bishop Kinney of St. Cloud is recovering from back surgery. I'm sure he would appreciate prayers.
The Mass of Ordination for Bishop-elect Piché is being recorded by generous volunteers from Town Square Cable Television and will be broadcast in full on three consecutive Saturdays - July 11th, July 18th and July 25th - at 3:00 p.m.
The funeral of Father Tim Vakoc will take place at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Bishop Richard Higgens of the U.S. Military Archdiocese, responsible for all service chaplains attached to military units or serving in veterans' homes and hospitals, will be present at the funeral. Many priests of the archdiocese are expected to be in attendance in addition to the many who knew or knew of Father Tim. Of course his mother and many of his relatives will also be present.
