New president of St. John's University inaugurated Today

.
St. John's University in Collegeville is officially inaugurating Father Robert Koopman as the school's new president.

He's been president of the Roman Catholic university since July 1, but the official inaugural celebration has been delayed until today.

The event starts at noon with a public Mass celebrated by St. Cloud Bishop John Kinney at St. John's Abbey Church. The inauguration itself starts at 2:30 p.m. in the church.

More than 1,000 people are expected to attend, and more will watch as it's streamed live on the St. John's Web site.

Koopman is the 12th president of the university. He replaces Brother Dietrich Reinhart, who was diagnosed with cancer last fall and died in December. Pioneer Press
