Celebrate 100 Years of Basilica of St Mary at Myriad Events

The Basilica of St. Mary will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the laying of its cornerstone beginning in August. Many events are planned during the next year. The basilica also will introduce a new logo to mark the milestone. The inspiration for the logo design is based on the Rose windows that are part of the basilica’s architecture.

Aug. 4

‘Celebrating 100 years: Art and Artifacts,’ an archival exhibit

Architect Emmanuel Masqueray blueprints and drawings, chalices, vestments, interior tracings by Slifer and Abrahmson, parishioner items, correspondence and many other items tell the story of the basilica building and its people throughout the past 100 years.

Aug. 25

Basilica all-school reunion

Are you or someone you know an alumnus of the basilica school? If so, don’t miss this opportunity to greet old friends and reconnect with your alma mater.

Aug. 26

Eucharist and community celebration

Join Archbishop Harry Flynn for Mass at 9:30 a.m., followed by a picnic to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the groundbreaking for the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary. There will be delicious food, fun games and a visit by an important historical figure from the past!
