Ada Woman Writes "War Child: Growing Up In Adolf Hitler's Germany."

[snip] "Annelee, you've got to write these things down. I think it would be a healing experience for you."

Does one ever truly mend from the effects of war?

"You know," Annelee says. "They are so embedded. I lost my hearing during the bombing of Munich. I was in that shelter all night long. It's over 60 years, and I still dream about it. You have flashbacks. The experience was traumatic and I often wonder how I got through it."

Annelee took the advice of those who suggested she expound on her essay and "Indoctrination" became the first of 32 chapters in "War Child: Growing Up In Adolf Hitler's Germany." Grand Forks Herald
