Father Marvin O’Connell to read from new book on history of St. Paul archdiocese

.
Father's Day is coming; for the father who has everything, he probably doesn't have this!

Father Marvin O’Connell will read from his new book, “Pilgrims to the Northland: The Archdiocese of St. Paul, 1840-1962,” at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at the OEC Auditorium, University of St. Thomas St. Paul campus.

The book details the social, economic and political context in which the Catholic Church in Minnesota grew and evolved, beginning with the labors and accomplishments of the French priests who arrived during the first half of the 19th century through the death of Archbishop William Brady in 1961.

Copies of the book will be for sale and Father O’Connell will be available to autograph them.

Father O’Connell is professor emeritus of history at the University of Notre Dame, a former member of the UST History Department and author of numerous books on Catholic history. Catholic Spirit
