Does anyone have a recommendation for a Parish in Rochester?

.
Anonymous Request: "I will be working in Rochester the next few months and was wondering if any of your readers could recommend a church? A Sunday Mass without music is fine, but if it does have music, I'd prefer a Mass that has music written prior to 1970. For lack of a better word, I'm looking for a 'reverent' Mass."

Not sure you're going to get what you're asking for...I live in teh diocese, but haven't been to mass in Rochester. I'd guess St John's near Mayo...although I don't know if there is a church in Rochester that doesn't do some of the 1970s onward music, at least some of the time. St. John's is a bit more traditional than the others, perhaps? There's a cool statue of the man who I believe is blessed, used to be a doctor at Mayo (from Italia....)

Resurrection has the reputation as the "Super Parish" of Rochester, if not the diocese. Very, very active, large church.

My former pastor is now pastor at Pax Christi, and he is a good, good man...sadly he seems to have Lou Gehrigs' disease now....

St. Bridget's south of town has TLM on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. It is served by Stewartville, where the priest is young and orthodox. Can't say I know anything about the music, though.

Thanks to both of you (and Ray) for the information. Maybe I'll check out the Stewartville parish.
