Father Mitch Pacwa, S.J., host of the the EWTN Live program on that television channel (Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. CDT) had Father Bernard McGuckian, S.J., and Irish priest on the show tonight.
Father McGuckian is the head of The Pioneer Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart, a group based largely in Ireland, but also throughout the world. The group fosters total abstinance from alcohol and other dependency habits. It is not a program designed to replace Alcoholics Anonymous since it has existed since long before AA, 1898. It is a prayer and a promise. It was designed to save families. So you don't have to be addicted yourself to be a member. All the founders were co-dependents.
