Christ the King Seminary, La Crosse, Wisconsin

.
Well, I don't want to say "April Fool!", so how about "July Fool!?"

Matthew Alderman, recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture and one of the principle creators of and contributors to The Shrine of the Holy Whapping blog, needed a fitting project to submit in order to get his degree. Being that he is, like most of the Whapping folk, a great admirer of the traditional in the Roman Catholic Church, dare I say, Tridentine, and tells well the tale of how he came up with this proposal for a seminary for the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest, a post Vatican II religious order founded in Italy in 1990.

The Institute's priests say Mass in the Tridentine rite, their numbers are still small after only 16 years, but three of their parishes are in Green Bay, Cashton and Wausau, Wisconsin. Since their only seminary is back in Italy, Matthew proposed that a Western Hemisphere seminary be constructed in La Crosse. It's an interesting article with great images of his proposal that he has posted on the Whapping blog. He did a lot of research with the Institute so maybe it will come to pass. See it Here!

A bit ago, we posted a picture of the sanctuary of St Mary's Oratory in Wausau and some information on the Institute.
