Mayville, N.D., Marks 125 Years with Fargo Native, Bobby Vee

.

Mayville, N.D., will celebrate its 125th year July 27-30. The highlight of the three-day event is the return of Bobby Vee to Mayville. Fargo native Vee, who had 38 gold records between 1959 and 1970, was in Mayville during the 1960s.

"He said he was excited to be come back," says Deb Kyllo, co-chair of the Mayville 125th anniversary committee. Vee, whose hits include "Red Rubber Ball," "Take Good Care of My Baby" and "Devil or Angel" will perform at 9 p.m. July 29 in downtown Mayville. The gates open at 7 p.m.

Kyllo expects a big crowd for the Vee street dance. "I have been getting calls from Brocket, Grand Forks, Bismarck. I think we really are going to pack them in." [snip] Grand Forks Herald
