On November 11th Fr. Echert (Pastor of St. Augustine) vs. David Mathis (Baptist Apologist from Bethlehem Baptist Church)
On November 11th, 2008, the next AOTM forum, at St. Augustine church in South St. Paul, Fr. Echert (Pastor of St. Augustine and Holy Trinity in South St. Paul) and David Mathis (from Bethlehem Baptist church in Minneapolis) have agreed to a good old traditional apologetic debate. Father Echert has a licentiate in Sacred Scripture and has been heard on protestant talk radio defending the Catholic faith. David Mathis is the associate to the famous John Piper, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a well know Baptist apologist from Minneapolis. They have not agreed on a specific topic as of yet, but rumor has it it will be on justification, the authority of the Bible or the sacraments.
The AOTM would like to thank Fr. Zuhlsdorf for a fantastic presentation at the last forum on October 14th. All who attended have said that it was a fantastic presentation. We hosted 186 men that night. That is up from last October of 110 men. The AOTM appreciates such fine speakers like Fr. Z that help us reach so many men. We also thank those who have spread the word and consistently encourage others to come so this apostoalte can further it’s mission. At this time Fr. Z’s presentation is not available to the public. We will post it when it becomes available.

All AOTM Forums are served buffet style. It is all you can eat and drink.
- Appetizer: Baked Artichoke Dip -Artichokes, cream cheese, herbs, and garlic of course.
- Dinner: Sirloin Tip, wood roasted, then sliced and placed on a bed of pasta covered in a herb cream mushroom garlic sauce. We will also serve a baked dish consisting of a layer of pasta covered with sage sausage smothered with the same mushroom sauce mentioned above, and then covered in mozzarella cheese and baked in the oven to perfection.

With a menu like that, who's going to be able to pay attention?
Save me a piece of cake, at LEAST.
I am in a little ecumenical group with a couple of folks from our parish and our associate parish priest. I was thinking of paying the tab and sending this priest off to this supper/club (as it is relevent subject matter and all) but I wanted to know if he would get completely smooshed if he asked some goofy liberal-jesuit question or if people would be gentle with him. He is a good-hearted guy, and really means well (I don't see alot of prideful attitude in him) but got into some strange thinking, theologically. I am hoping for change of heart, a nice evening, not humiliation. -Jennie
Jennie:
Thanks for checking out the announcement and for thinking of your Associate.
All are welcome at the AOTM sessions and controversies are not unknown. Laughter is more often heard than abuse, but the greater majority of those in attendance would jump at the opportunity to reply to comments greatly in opposition to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church.
Most in attendance are Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. Tonight will be interesting because one of the featured speakers is a Baptist apologist and one would expect that he will bring at least a carload of supporters.
Please do send your Associate. But don't worry about the tab. Priests and Seminarians eat (and drink) for free!
Laura:
It's obvious that you eat too many salads.
This is guy food that many of our attendees don't get at home because their spouse has them on a diet. This is their one chance a month for them to "chow down" and they prepare for it by drinking gallons of water in the days before the meeting to expand the capacity of their tummies.
