October 6: Theology of the Body for Teens Workshop
The Department for Catholic Education and Formation (CEF) is offering a one-day training for catechists who will be offering instruction for Chastity Education in their parishes. This training will focus on the newly released text Theology of the Body for Teens published by Ascension Press. It will take place Saturday, October 6, 2007, 9:30am – 4:15 pm, Cardinal Muench Seminary, Fargo. Cost is $40/person and includes lunch. All catechists who will be working with teens either through youth ministry or classroom instruction are encouraged to attend this program. October 7: Walk with Christ for Life
The annual diocesan Eucharistic procession Walk with Christ for Life is slated for Respect Life Sunday, October 7th, 2007. The day’s events will begin with Holy Mass at Noon, Cathedral of St. Mary, 604 Broadway, Fargo, ND. A Eucharistic procession will follow to the state’s only abortion facility and conclude with Benediction at the Cathedral. October 9: Health Workshop on Organ Donation and Transplantation
North Dakota Catholic Health Care Providers annual gathering will feature a conference on ethical issues in human organ transplantation which will take place October 9. The conference “Sharing the Gift of Life: Organ Donation and Transplantation” will host speakers Fr. Tadeusz Pacholczyk, PhD, National Catholic Bioethics Center, Dr. Bhargav Mistry, Director Transplant Program, Meritcare, and Susan Mau Larson, APR, Life Source. The conference will be held at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND. Cost is $75 per person and includes lunch. October 27: Life Issues Workshop, Cardinal Muench Seminary, Fargo
The Respect Life Office will be hosting a one-day workshop on Life Issues Saturday, October 27, 2007, 9 am. - 4 pm at Cardinal Muench Seminary, 100 35th Ave NE, Fargo. Morning presentations on beginning-of-life issues include: “Prenatal Testing and Perinatal Hospice” by Dr. Richard Vetter and “Women’s Health Issues” by Dr. Mary W. Martin, FACOG. Afternoon workshops will focus on end-of-life care. Presentations include “Ethical Approach to End-of-Life Care Decisions” by Fr. Dale Kinzler, “The Catholic Health Care Directive” by Christopher Dodson, and “Catholic Funerals and Cremation” by Fr. Brian Moen. Parish nurses, health care providers and interested persons are encouraged to attend. Contact hours will be available for nurses. Cost is $10/person. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required.
