Archdiocese Seeking to Develop Community Groups for Young Adults

Issues about marriage, abortion, living a Christ-centered life and dealing with doubts about faith were some of the topics briefly discussed by Bishop Richard Pates during a question-and-answer session with 165 young adults April 28 at the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul.

But the focus of the event didn’t revolve around particular social justice issues or questions relating to doctrine. Instead, the bulk of Bishop Pates’ discussion centered on a new initiative for young adults in the archdiocese that is intended to create a “radical Christianity,” which the bishop described as faith “rooted deeply in God’s goodness and love.”

The idea behind the initiative is to capture the spiritual fervor and passion that young adults encounter during community events such as World Youth Day, and integrate those spiritually awakening experiences into their everyday lives. Catholic Spirit
