Vatican Art Exhibit Still Showing in Milwaukee

Scott from Viam Pacis has posted a nice report on his visit to the Vatican Art Exhibit currently in Milwaukee and it will be there for a while yet. It sounds like we all should make the trip.

Yesterday afternoon, we toured St. Peter and the Vatican: Legacy of the Popes, the exhibit at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Neither one of us were feeling particularly well, so our brains weren't completely functioning. I think it's important to remember that this is being presented as a historical museum exhibit and that your expectations need to be set appropriately. It was quite respectful of the Church and the papacy and, overall, fairly well done. We're both extremely glad we made the trip. It was worth it even if we had been hoping for a bit more explanation of some of the symbology.

Fans of architectural drawing and engravings will find a lot to enjoy. Especially neat were the drawings of the winches, layout, man- and horse-power used to first lower the Obelisk from its position in Nero's Circus, and then raise it to its present position in the center of St. Peter's Square.
