Señor de los Milagros
MASS OF THE LORD OF MIRACLES
Sunday, October 1, 12 Noon
St Olaf Parish, Minneapolis
with music in Spanish and English
Peruvian food and fellowship follow Mass
All are invited to participate in this special
Spanish Mass and celebration!
The origin of the Icon of the Lord of Miracles, patron saint
of Lima, Peru, dates from 1655, when the government was
run by the Spanish invaders. They were also the owners of
the poor Incas and black people who were treated as slaves.
Bearing great hardship, the slaves put their hope in God.
Their faith spread, and the first Masses and processions
celebrating the Lord of the Miracles began in October,
1671. Every year since, this celebration takes place in
October in Lima, Peru, and other parts of the world.
