'Fighting Irish' name not found offensive? How about the 'Fighting Sioux?'

Fans of the "Fighting Sioux" of the U of North Dakota in Grand Forks wonder if they are being treated fairly by the NCAA which wants them to drop that name. But Notre Dame is under no such mandate. How did we get on this sports kick today? Well one Catholic Irishman is upset.

Oshkosh WI is named after Chief Oshkosh. Oshkosh West High School had to change their name from the Oshkosh Chiefs ... and I am waiting for the day when to be PC, the City will also have to change its name...

As an Irish American Catholic... I don't mind the Fighting Irish, but I don't always like the mascot they use to depict the Irish. However, I also know that it is just a school mascot, and those in that school are PROUD of being one of the Fighting Irish.

There is another school in the area which has the Gallopping Ghost as its mascot. The history of that name is known to anyone who wants to check it out. Yet someone who did NOT attend the school opted to be upset by it, as he claimed it reminded him of the KKK. Had he looked into the reason for the name, he may have not angered so many people. Had he done any research, he would have learned about THE Galloping Ghost, Red Grange...

Just as an entire city is named after Chief Oshkosh, because he was a great Chief... not as a mockery of the Native Americans.

I get so tired of PC.
