Institute of the Incarnate Word Priests to Staff St Peter and Paul in Mankato!

.
St Peter and Paul Parish in Mankato, in the Diocese of Winona, was about to lose its Jesuit priests in July. But it looks like Bishop Bernard Harrington was on top of the situation and has invited priests of an Argentinian order, fluent, of course, in Spanish, to staff St Peter and Paul beginning July 1. The Institute of the Incarnate Word, an order of both men and women, both active and contemplative, was founded by Father Carlos Miguel Buela in 1984 in Argentina. It currently serves 11 parishes in the United States.

Bishop Bernard Harrington Visits the IVE's Seminary
On Friday, November 16th, [2007], the Fulton Sheen House of Formation was honored to receive a visit from Bishop Bernard J. Harrington, who is the ordinary of the Diocese of Winona, Minnesota. Bishop Harrington celebrated mass for us in the church of St. John Baptist de la Salle, and then stayed for lunch with Fr. Gustavo Nieto, our provincial superior, the priest formation staff and all the seminarians and novices. We are thankful for the visit of Bishop Harrington, and for his exhortation (in his homily) to always remember that “the hand of God is closer than the door.” We pray for God’s blessings and Our Blessed Mother’s intercession for Bishop Harrington and the people of his diocese.

Institute of the Incarnate Word
Father Carlos Miguel Buela, V.E. became a catholic priest in October 7, 1971. From the beginning of his priesthood he worked consistently in youth ministy, with the conviction that the Church takes care of the young people not because of tactics but by vocation.

He wrote for them Jóvenes hacia el Tercer Milenio (Youth toward the Third Milleniun) that has already been printed five times already and was awarded the prize 'Best Book on Religion and Spirituality' by the International Fair of the Book. He also authored Catecismo de los Jóvenes (Catechism for Youth), Modernos ataques contra la familia (Modern Attacks against Family), Fátima. Y el sol bailó (Fatima. And the sun danced) Sacerdotes para siempre (Priests for ever) and a large number of articles published in different magazines.

He is an enthusiastic preacher of the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius.

He has founded three homes of charity for mentally handicaped and orphaned children, as well as two schools.

He founded two religious institutes: the Institute of the Incarnate Word and the Institute Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara. Both institutes are composed of a contemplative branch and and active one. They have the same charism: the prolongation of the incarnation of the Word of God in all the manifestations of the human person. Their specific aim is the evangelization of the culture. The two institutes have approximately 900 members who are working in missions around the world.

Father Buela is currently the Superior General of the male branch. He resides in Segni, Italy.
