A letter to the editor in the Star Tribune, July 31, 2008
Currently, P.Z. Myers, an associate professor of biology at the University of Minnesota, Morris, demonstrated both his immaturity and his intolerance by desecrating a eucharistic host and pages of the Qur'an,
Myers has shown a live of immaturity and intolerance that is highly inappropriate, especially for a public university professor. I hope the university considers his actions in light of its code of conduct, which states, "The university is committed to tolerance, diversity, and respect for differences. When dealing with others, community members are expected to: be respectful, fair, and civil."

What Kind of Standards Does the U of MN Have?
Labels: Church Dissidents, Sacraments and Liturgy, St. Cloud
What the letter to the editor misses is that those rules only protect the likes of P. Z. Myers, who can be as vile as he can imagine with full University protection.
His actions are seen as tolerant, diverse, respectful, fair, and civil.
If the University of Minnesota intends for me to think otherwise it can do something about the Myers situation based on the words of their code.
