Bishop Sirba to be Consecrated December 14 in Duluth

The Rev. Paul D. Sirba, previously vicar-general of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, was named to the position Oct. 15 by Pope Benedict XVI. He succeeds Bishop Dennis Schnurr, who was elevated to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Ordination events begin with solemn vespers at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, according to the Rev. James Bissonette, Duluth's diocesan administrator. The ordination takes place the following day, which is the memorial of St. John of the Cross, at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Auditorium, beginning at 2 p.m.

The ordination is by invitation. A reception open to the public will follow in the Lake Superior Ballroom. Duluth News Tribune
