The St. Paul-Minneapolis archdiocesan mandate that Catholic schools and religious-education programs use the sexually explicit Talking About Touching curriculum in the coming school year has sparked a groundswell of parental opposition that has surprised area pastors and chancery officials.
Just weeks after the TAT mandate was announced, a group of parents calling itself the Primary Educators League claims to have formed a network of 210 parents at over one-fourth of the archdiocese’s parishes. PEL has held two public meetings that have attracted roughly 250 people and is receiving requests to hold more around the archdiocese, according to PEL leader John Murphy.
