Thanks be to God! These are 2 parishes that are going to help in bringing to fufillment the reform of the reform.

Please support these parishes.

Also let your interested Priests know that those Priests of St. Augustine are willing to teach those that do not know how to pray the Tridentine rite. Last week their was a Priest who was there to learn and now will be celebrating a Mass in his parish 50 miles east of the Twin Cities.

There are a lot of used bookstores in the Twin Cities area. Try there. You should be able to find one for $15 or so. Most of the dealers won't be aware of an increased demand for old missals. Make sure you have a copyright of 1963 or earlier.

Definitely you wouldn't want one with a copyright of 1969 or later. That would definitely be a Novus Ordo Missal.

I found a St Andrew Bible Missal with a 1962 copyright that would be a little confusing because it was extensively rewritten with some new translations and lots of modern commentary. For example, they translate "Et cum spiritu tuo" as "And with you also," among other things.

There were some very minor changes, including adding St Joseph to the Eucharistic prayer, made in 1962 so for most of us, an older missal should be very adequate.

I think that they are charging about $50 for new 1962 missals.

Peter: It may be worthwhile to call Holy Trinity and St. Augustine and ask if they are going to have handouts or missals at the door before you invest in your own copy. Some parishes do that. It may be more common for parishes to help folks learn the extraordinary form by providing the materials now that the extraordinary form will be "new" to more people.

It is well worth the investment to get a good missal. They have a section for the mass and usually have the reading printed out as well at St. Augustine.

Here are a couple links for some good priced missals.

The Motu Proprio version one is from http://www.baroniuspress.com/book.php?wid=56&bid=4

Here is another one

This site also has many other great resources for evangelization. Make sure to get one for a friend!

See ya at Mass!

Thank you all for the comments. I had saved some missals from when my mom when she passed away. 3 of them look to be published around 1961 or 1962. One is from 1935. I guess I will try to ask someone at Holy Trinity if any of these work, and how to use them.I kept them out of sentimentality but never thought I would actually use them!
