While only a percentage of SJV's graduates
graduates go on to priesthood, those who
aren't ordained still bring their Catholic for-
mation into their communities, businesses
and families. | ||||
Of the men that begin studies at SJV, 35 to
40 percent will go on to ordination, according
to Father Baer. Eighty-five percent of the men
who end up graduating from SJV will go on to
major seminary; 70 percent who graduate
will become priests. |

Fall of 2000, Class of 2002! Ordained 2006. I think several others of our class (02) are ordained as well.
Archbishop Harry Flynn deserves much credit for this, as does fr. Baer.
We are so blessed to have so many good men and good priests.
You're absolutely right, Terry.
Most people probably don't know it, but Archbishop Flynn before he became a bishop was a dean and rector of Mount St Mary's Major Seminary in Maryland betweem 1965-79, one of the biggest, best and most important seminaries in the U.S.
The second oldest Catholic college in the U.S., after Georgetown, it will be celebrating its bicentennial next year.
The book "Goodbye, Good Men, that castigated virtually all seminaries in the United States in the 80s and 90s gave rave reviews to Mount St Mary's and one or two others.
