A Man On a Journey "On Eagles' Wings"

The Rev. Michael Joncas has known success and celebrity, as well as pain and life-threatening illness. But those experiences pale in power next to the central theme of his existence.

"Even as a small child, I was washed over by holy mystery, by the sense that there has to be more to life than we can see in front of us," said Joncas, an associate professor of Catholic studies and theology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

Joncas, 54, a Roman Catholic priest, theologian and liturgical composer, is best known for his 1978 composition "On Eagles' Wings." But the most intriguing thing about Joncas may be how his sense of his life as a complex spiritual journey has deepened since his battle with Guillain-Barré syndrome began in 2003. His faith never flickered, he said, but rather "deepened and found new forms of expression." [snip] StarTribune
