A Good Shepherd --- Retired Bishop of Fargo, James Sullivan, Has Died

Former Diocese of Fargo Bishop James Sullivan, 76, died this morning from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He died at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, where he had been living since this spring.Sullivan became the diocese’s sixth bishop on 1985. He retired in 2002 as Alzheimer’s began to take hold. Retired Roman Catholic Bishop James Sullivan, who led the diocese here for 11 years, died this morning, the diocese said. He was 76. Sullivan, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, retired on March 18, 2002.

Sullivan's death was the result of complications from Alzheimer's, the diocese said in a statement issued this morning. He died at Rosewood on Broadway, a Fargo nursing home. Sullivan was appointed bishop of Fargo on April 2, 1985, and was installed on May 30 that year. He succeeded Bishop Justin A. Driscoll, who died in November 1984. [snip] Grand Forks Herald
